The sharing economy and platform mediated work are rapidly becoming more common in Finland. The phenomenon is expected to have a significant impact on firms, the labour market and to the way society functions. These impacts are thus far not well understood.
The Work Up! The future of crowdsourced work in Finland – seminar will discuss the effects of digital platforms and the spread of crowdsourced work on employment, labour markets, firms and the institutions of working life. The seminar includes an expert panel, insights from the latest research and an open discussion with the audience.
The expert panel is composed of CEO Ville Miettinen (Micortask Oy), Board member Santtu Hulkkonen (Solved Oy), CEO Merru Tuliara (of the Private Employment Agencies Association), Employment policy specialist Leila Kurki (of the Finnish Confederation of Professionals STTK), Board member Juho Salminen (Susinno Oy) and Journalist Terhi Hautamäki.
The seminar is part of the Work Up! – event series looking at phenomena in working life. The organisers of the seminar are the Working-life 2020 project governed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment together with rotating partners; SWiPE researcher Mervi Hasu (Finnish Institute of Occupational Health) is helping organise the event. The theme of crowdsourced work was touched upon in last May’s Work Up! – event, which aroused much interest and conversation. This seminar will build on that conversation.
